Prevention

Everyone, whether or not they have prediabetes or diabetes can benefit from making lifestyle changes. For people with prediabetes and diabetes, lifestyle changes are extremely important. Without lifestyle changes, 15-30% of people with prediabetes will develop type 2 diabetes within 3-5 years.

The good news is that people can prevent or delay type 2 diabetes by:

  • Losing just 5-7% of your total body weight (that’s just 10-15 pounds for a 200 pound person)
  • Making healthy food choices
  • Being more physically active, 150 minutes per week
