Who are the TRAIL Mentors?
Alex Arey:
Alex is a senior at Concord High School and she was born and raised in Concord. Her hobbies include dancing, running, art, and music. She's very energetic and loves working and playing with kids. She is very open–minded and likes everyone unless she has a reason not to. She enjoys getting to know people and making them laugh. She became a part of TRAIL because she wants to positively influence the youth in our community and would like to reassure them that people are there for support, comfort, and guidance.
Mary Blackwelder:
Mary is a senior at Concord High School and is very excited to graduate and get out on her own. Mary has lived in Concord her whole life, just like 3 generations of her family have before her. She is very energetic and outgoing. She loves her job at the YMCA where she gets paid to play with kids! When shes not working she likes to swim or spend time with friends. Mary's friends are like her extended family and she thrives from their love and support. The things that make Mary the happiest in life are laughter and cherry limeades from sonic.
Fran Bullard:
Fran is a senior at Concord High and enjoys playing tennis, dancing, and running. She likes to go to the lake and the beach during the summer. She has lived in Concord for fourteen years and has lived in North Carolina her whole life. Fran turns to her friends for advice and encouragement and feels fortunate to have them. She is also grateful for her family's support throughout the years. Because Fran has had a good upbringing and has learned how to make the right choices, she feels it is important for her to pass along her good decision–making skills to other kids in the community.
Summer Chunn:
Summer has lived in Concord, North Carolina for her entire life. She is a senior at Concord High School who hopes to go to Appalachian State University next fall. She loves to travel and enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, and relaxing on the beach. Summer has a younger brother named Maverick, who is currently in middle school.
Valerie Dickson:
Valerie is a senior a Concord High School. She is very excited to be a senior. She was born in Concord N.C. and has lived all 17 years of her life here. She loves music and yet can’t play any instrument. She loves art work and learning new things. For 15 years Valerie has danced and has loved every minute. She loves adventures and taking risks that’s why meeting new people is exciting and fun for her. She has always been one to be positive and fun. She thinks you should live your dream.
Onyema Nwanaji Enwerem:
Onyema lives with his family in his hometown of Concord NC. He attends Concord High School and is currently a junior. Currently he is a member of the Concord High School Student Council, City of Concord Youth Council, and most recently he became a member of Trail. Onyema first became interested in Trail after receiving information from a teacher and speaking with peers about the wonderful opportunity. He plans to go to college to study biology with the hope of getting into a medical school. At his spare time, he enjoys reading, writing, track, and soccer.
David Gale:
David is a senior at Northwest Cabarrus High School. He has lived in North Carolina his whole life and moved from Salisbury to Kannapolis when he was three years old. David enjoys running, swimming for his high school, and singing in multiple choirs. Friends have been a huge support system for David over the years and continue to have one of the largest influences on his life. David started being a mentor in the TRAIL program because he knows from firsthand experience how much of an impact other teens and friends can have on someone's outlook on life.
Gabbie Leeper:
Gabbie Leeper is a junior at Cannon School. She was born in New York and began attending school full–time at age 2. She moved to North Carolina with her mother when she was 4 years old. She lived in Hickory and Charlotte, before settling in Concord. A NCHSAA Scholar–Athlete, Gabbie has lettered in volleyball, swimming and track. She is in her 5th year of service with the Cabarrus County Teen Court & Peer Mediation Program, where she serves as an Attorney. She also volunteers with her church.
Orane Ossowski:
Orane is a junior at Concord High School and enjoys spending his time playing sports like soccer and basketball. He works at Autobell and enjoys getting money. Orane was born on 1/22/93 in Quebec, Canada but moved to Concord when he was very little. Orane can speak two different languages and he hopes to bring a lighter and more humorous side to TRAIL while keeping its strong morals.
Dominique Phifer:
Dominique is a junior at A.L. Brown High School. He was born and raised in Kannapolis, NC were he participates in sports including football, track, and wrestling (GO WONDERS!!!). In his spare time, he loves to write poetry and hangout with his family and friends. Dominique is very outgoing and always has a positive attitude. He loves meeting new people and carrying conversations because you never know who you might meet or what they will become."You might meet the next president so treat everyone the way you want to be treated" said Dominique.
Malisa Sysavanh:
Malisa is a junior at A.L. Brown High School. She was born in California, and then later moved to Kannapolis, North Carolina when she was only two. Some of Malisa's hobbies are cheerleading, soccer, and just hanging out with friends. She also loves to shop on her free time. Malisa is a very outgoin person, and is willing to go out and meet new people. She is also a person you can count on when you need a friend. She started to be a part of the TRAIL program as a mentor because she wanted to be able to help and inform teenagers about the choices that they are making. She wants to be a supporter, a role model, and a friend to teenagers. She also just wants to help them make the right choices, so that they won't be in bad situations.
