What is WIC:
Is a USDA Supplemental Nutrition Program. WIC is for pregnant and breast feeding women. Women who just had a baby who are not breast feeding, and Infants and Children up to age 5.

WIC Program Benefits:
  • WIC Foods - WIC provides healthy foods.
  • Nutrition Education - Helps clients make better choices in the food they eat. They also learn how nutrition and health work together.
  • Breastfeeding Support We have Peer Counselors. We also have a Breast feeding Room, Breast pumps and supplies for our clients.
  • Referrals to Health Care and Public Assistance Programs
Eligibility Requirements for WIC:
  • Income - People who get Medicaid, Work First, and Food and Nutrition Services (Food Stamps) are already income eligible for WIC. You do not have to get these services to be income eligible for WIC. Income is checked. Click here to view the income guidelines.
  • Identification - ID is required.
  • Residence proof - Serving Cabarrus, Mecklenburg, or Rowan Counties
  • Who can get WIC?
    • Pregnant Women,
    • a non-breastfeeding woman up to six months after the baby is born,
    • a breastfeeding woman up to one year after the baby is born,
    • infants,
    • children up to the fifth birthday
  • Nutrition risk - A client talks to a nutritionist to find out if they have a medical/nutritional risk.

  • Call the WIC Office at 704-920-1204 starting at 8:30am to make same day appointment.
