The MURDOCK Study

Cabarrus Health Alliance is currently participating as a recruitment and collection site for the MURDOCK Study.

The Measurement to Understand Reclassification of Disease of Cabarrus and Kannapolis (M.U.R.D.O.C.K.) Study is a long-term study outlined with tiered approaches that will create a powerful engine to improve disease classification and population health. By utilizing the multi-disciplinary expertise of clinicians, scientists, bioinformatists, healthcare providers and many others from Duke University and local communities as well as a generous gift of $35 million from Mr. David H. Murdock, the M.U.R.D.O.C.K. Study will gather and generate data that will not only reclassify diseases but will aid in the retooling of healthcare practices and administration and enable improved prevention practices among sub-populations of patients with varying risk profiles. Ultimately, this unprecedented research opportunity is expected to rewrite the textbook of medicine by applying modern-day technologies to identify genomic linkages across major chronic diseases and disorders that are today's leading causes of morbidity and mortality.
