WHAT IT IS:
Health Promotion provides educational, consultative, and marketing services within the Health Alliance and in the community. Health promotion is a component of every service offered by the Health Alliance.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The major purpose of the Health Promotion Division is the effective communication of health information to individuals, groups, and the general public. Our goal is to make the public award of CHA services and help individuals and communities develop the capabilities and skills necessary to improve or maintain their health status.

WHO MAY RECEIVE THIS SERVICE: Anyone may request Health Promotion services.

HOW THIS PROGRAM IS CARRIED OUT: The Health Promotion Division (1) responds to requests for health-related information, (2) maintains a health reference library consisting of books, journals, pamphlets, and audio-visual materials, (3) develops and distributes information for use by the mass media, (4) selects, designs, and produces written and audio-visual materials for use in educational settings, (5) helps determine the need for health education services in the agency and community, (6) provides consultation to individuals and groups in planning, conducting, and evaluating educational activities, (7) participates with other community groups such as local planning bodies and other social agencies for the purpose of coordinating, eliminating duplication and working toward the solution of health and health related problems, and (8) assists with planning, conducting, and evaluating training programs for staff and other health agency personnel, professional groups, volunteers and civic groups.

HOW THE COMMUNITY BENEFITS: Because this information is tailored to meet the needs of people with various lifestyles and educational levels, all segments of the population may benefit.
