WHAT IT IS:
This program provides pregnant women with medical care throughout the pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum period.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The purpose of this program is to assure that every pregnancy ends with a healthy mother and healthy baby. This is provided by education, medical supervision, and referrals as indicated.

WHO MAY RECEIVE THIS SERVICE: Pregnant women residing in Cabarrus County and Carolina Access clients from Cabarrus, Rowan, and Stanly counties. Medicaid, various insurance plans, and sliding fee scale based on financial eligibility are accepted.

HOW THIS PROGRAM IS CARRIED OUT: By appointment at the Kannapolis site and at the Cabarrus Community Health Centers at Logan in Concord. The staff (physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, nutritionists, social workers, laboratory, etc.) uses a team approach to provide medical supervision and prenatal education. Childbirth education classes are also available at the Kannapolis site.  Call 704-920-1205 for more information.

HOW THE COMMUNITY BENEFITS: Assuring that every woman has access to prenatal care increases the chance that women have healthy pregnancies and healthy babies.
