Russell Suda, MD, FACOG

Career Background:
Dr. Suda began his career as a faculty member at the
New York Medical College where he was the director of medical student
education in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He had a dual appointment in
the departments of OB/GYN and Pathology. He became an appointed
faculty member at the University of Oklahoma in 1986 after leaving
the New York Medical College. He was in a solo, and later a
partnership practice of Obstetrics and Gynecology from 1991- 2002 in
rural Washington State. He worked at both Fort Stewart and Fort
Bragg during the two years while moving his family from Washington
State to North Carolina.
Education:
Dr. Suda received his A. B. degree in Biology at
Washington University at St. Louis and his M.D. from St. Louis University. He completed
a 3-year residence in Anatomic pathology at the University of Missouri and a 4 year
OB/GYN residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He is board certified in Anatomic Pathology
and Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Professional, Business and Civic Activities:
Dr. Suda served as a member and chairman of the Pharmacy
and Therapeutics Committee and the University of Oklahoma and was the recipient of the
Medical Student Teaching Award for four years in succession. He was a member and chairman
of the Infectious Disease Committee in rural Washington. He was the director of the Crisis
Pregnancy Center in Snohomish County, Washington from 1998-2002. He was President of the
Medical Staff at the Cascade Valley Hospital from 1999-2000.

Linny M. Baker, MD, FAAP
Career Background:
Dr. Baker began his
pediatric career at the Cabarrus Pediatric Clinic in 1963 and
practiced there for 36 years. He joined the Cabarrus Health Alliance
on July 1, 1999. Dr. Baker also became Associate Medical Director
of Carolina Access Managed Care organization in February 1999.
Education:
Dr. Baker received his B.S. degree in Pre Medical from Davidson
College 1956. Graduated Summa Cum Laude and was elected to Phi Beta
Kappa and Omicron Delta Kappa. He received his M.D. from Duke
University School of Medicine in 1960 where he was elected to Alpha
Omega Alpha. He completed his Pediatric internship and residency at
Duke Hospital from 1960-63, serving as Chief Resident 1962-63.
Professional, Business and Civic Activities:
Dr. Baker has served 20 years as a Sunday School Teacher at St. James Lutheran
Church. Has served on Church Council, serving as Chairman of Council
and Stewardship committee. He is a member of Cabarrus County Medical
Society, and has served as Vice President and President. An active
staff member of CMC-NorthEast and previously served as Chief of
Pediatrics and Chief of Staff at NorthEast Medical Center. He is a
former member and chairman of the Cabarrus County Board of Health.

Valerie Sakach, MD, FAAP
Director of Pediatrics/Medical Director of ADHD-Neurobehavioral
Clinic
Career Background:
Dr. Sakach has been in pediatric practice since 1983, first practicing in
Washington, Pennsylvania where she established a private practice that has
continued to thrive after her seven years of service there. While in
Pennsylvania, Dr. Sakach was on the Washington Hospital Family Medicine faculty,
medical advisor for a three county Head Start Program, and developed a
Safe Sitters program. Dr. Sakach started the Cabarrus Health Alliance ADHD
program in 2000, and became the Director of Pediatrics in July, 2008. She is on
staff at CMC-NorthEast.
Education:
Dr. Sakach graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a
B.A. with honors in biology from Washington and Jefferson College,
PA. She attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and
completed a three year pediatric residency at Children's Hospital of
Pittsburgh. She became American Board of Pediatrics in 1984.
Professional, Business and Civic Activities:
Dr. Sakach is past chair of Smart Start Cabarrus County
Partnership for Children, and was on the board for over 10 years.
She has also served on the Healthy Cabarrus board and its dental
task force. Dr. Sakach had practiced her love of the arts by being
on the board of Cabarrus Playmakers and involved in Old Courthouse
Theatre. She also is a member of First Presbyterian Church's
Sanctuary Choir.

Kimberly R. Dehler, M.S., DDS
Dentist / Dental Director
Career
Background:
Dr. Dehler started her dental career working with the Indian Health
Service in Montana and Arizona before moving to North Carolina to
work with special needs dental patients.
She joined the Cabarrus Health Alliance in 2005 and became the
Dental Director in 2006.
Education
Dr. Dehler received a B.S degree in Nutrition from Georgia Southern
College, an M.S. in Nutrition from the University of Tennessee,
Knoxville and completed her D.D.S. at the University of Tennessee in
Memphis. She completed a 2-year residency in hospital dentistry and
oral medicine at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. She is currently
working on her M.P.H. through the School of Public Health at Chapel
Hill.
Professional and Civic Activities:
Dr. Dehler is active in the Southern Piedmont Partnership for Public
Health working on innovative strategies to increase service capacity
of public health dentistry practice in North Carolina. She is also
active on the Healthy Cabarrus Dental Task Force.

Kimberly Canton-Kane, DDS
Career Background:
Dr Canton Kane joined the dental clinic at CHA in October 2006.
Education:
Dr Canton Kane graduated from the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill School of Dentistry in 1999.
Professional, Business and Civic Activities:
Dr Canton Kane worked in urban as well as rural communities in Jamaica
and The Bahamas for six years. She is a member of the American
Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, North Carolina
Dental Society and is also an adjunct faculty member of the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry.

T. Patrick Burns, DDS
Career
Background:
Dr. Burns has worked with Cabarrus Health Alliance since 2005. Before that
he worked in South Carolina for Dental Access Carolina. Dr. Burns has worked in private practice
and public health since 2003.
Education:
Dr. Burns attended The College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina from 1995-1999.
There he received a B.S. in Biology. He attended dental school at the Medical University
of South Carolina from 1999-2003.
Professional, Business, and Civic Activities:
Dr. Burns is a member of the American Dental Association, North Carolina Dental
Association, Charlotte Dental Association, South Carolina Dental Association, Central
District Dental Association, and a member of the Psi Omega Dental Service Fraternity.
In 2003 Dr. Burns won the Psi Omega National Council Fraternal Achievement Award. Dr.
Burns is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Dental Ecology at the UNC-Chapel Hill
Dental School.

Manual Lopez, DDS
Career
Background:
Dr. Lopez joined CHA as a Dentist in February of 2001.
Education:
Dr. Lopez attended the School of Dentistry Higher Institute of
Medical Science Havana, Cuba. He graduated in 1979 with a Doctor of
Dentistry. He practiced as a General Dentist in Havana, Cuba
from 1979 to 1995. In 1997 he enrolled at New York University
College of Dentistry in the Advanced Training Program for Graduated
Dentists in foreign countries where he received his D.D.S. in 2000.
Dr. Lopez has advanced training in Primary Care in Periodontics,
Oral Surgery and Prevention and Early Detection of Oral Cancer.
Professional, Business and Civic Activities:
Dr. Lopez participated in the Latin American Congress of
Promotion of Oral Health and International Conference on the Prevention of Oral Cancer.
